"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination...And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to."

i found this quote in russh magazine (lol, such a profound source of wisdom...) and i'm living it right now. i'm copying everything from everywhere pasting it in my head/writing on a million little pieces of paper, and i can't wait till i get some time off work to get creative.

by the way the quote is from jim jarmusch who i love heaps.

i'm going to make a 3-course vegetarian meal for my family and dafydd either on monday or tomorrow and i'm going to take photos so everyone can be jealous of my awesome cooking skills. lol i am so modest. i bet i've jinxed myself now and i'll burn/overcook everything. my hair smells like grilled eggplants with miso paste.

dafydd is away in auckland. i am bored, i just stole his camera and took some photos. god, i'm glad i remembered something of what he always tries to teach me about taking photos, because it's not easy-peasy when the auto settings fail you.

i have to show you this:

our flatmate got it for our cat, they're cat treats. but the picture on the bag is just NUTS. the cat looks like it's at a rave and the cat treats are e or something. it's the funniest thing EVER. and our cat really likes them too.

Writer's Block: Airplane reading [10.08.09]

If you're going on a long plane or road trip, what sort of reading materials do you bring along? Is it different from what you usually read? Will you watch a trashy movie or read a bad novel or magazines just to pass the time?

i won't read anything on a road trip, talk about puke fest, just scrolling through artists on my ipod makes me nauseous. but if i'm on the plane, definitely a trashy magazine. planes make me too nervous and they're just too uncomfortable in general to keep any focus on any kind of book that isn't trashy. so yeah, either a trashy book or magazine. but trashy is the key word.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER TODAY. yesterday my head actually ached i was so stressed. but i rang the police and while they can't really do much i reported the break-in. also, when i was at work, the policeman that works at the airport who i'm friendly with stopped by and i told him about it. he recommended i either somehow park my car in the drive or get a cheap car alarm because just the noise would be enough to deter people. ah well, i still have my old stereo so i'll have to get dafydd to put it in, but i have NO MUSIC in my car at the moment and it suckles.

just had a good/interesting lecture about children telling stories and reading in general. but man, some of the people in my class act like they're in 3rd form. they were sitting right in front of me and spent the whole class playing games on their iphones. then, they were drawing people and there is this guy in the class who has some sort of speech impediment, but he's really intelligent, he also has a walking/postural problem i don't know what...but anyway, he said something during the class and one of the girls nudged the other and said 'draw him' and she wrote down on her paper "LOSER". i actually sat there right behind her channeling bad vibes into her. i really hope she has some unfortunate thing happen to her like go out somewhere and urgently need to go to the toilet but there isn't one around and she ends up pooping her pantz. or something. i just hate those spoiled bitches and their limited interpretation of the world. its like they haven't developed theory of mind.

i treated myself to a vanilla earl gray bubble cup with pearls on my way home, and damn it's tasty. i have work tomorrow and on sunday, and so much study to do. i can't wait to be allowed to have fun. GRUMP.

my car got broken into. they stole the faceplate of the radio i got for christmas, the stereo is there but i can't use it without the faceplate and apparently a replacement one would cost the same as a new stereo. FUCK i am like raging like the HULK right now. i am going to stake out the front of the house and CATCH THEM if they're stupid enough to come back and get the stereo. i'll be waiting with my hairstraightener up on HOT. beware!

i just painted my nails thusly:

colour is "shower together" by china glaze. this is the first time i've worn it - i love it! i have a weakness for unusual blue/greenish colours. also i've had my hair cut and have dyed it recently... it just won't behave! i've started using a new shampoo, "synthia sylvia stout" by LUSH and it's making it a bit easier to manage.

i've also started my new job! it's at a luggage selling/wrapping/storage and travel accessories shop at the chch international airport. it's pretty fun so far, but man oh man i am nervous about being sole charge, starting as soon as next week. it's hard having no backup in case you don't know something or need help when it gets busy. but i think i'll manage alright... there's a lot of bookkeeping to do which is kinda a pain, but oh well.

i'm going to see connan mockasin tomorrow! am excited, he's great live. i also should really get around to doing some study these holidays but now with work i've kinda bumped it off my priorities.

the other thing - i'm starting a raw vegan diet from saturday. sounds like a drastic change, but i'm physically and mentally sick of the crap i've been eating, especially lately, and i'll do it for a week as an experiment but will most likely continue for a longer term, maybe not 100% raw but 70-80%.

my grandma is doing better, she should be getting discharged from the hospital any day now and moving in with my parents until she's 110% recovered. my dad's also been in hospital today - he's getting a nose job, haha. well, it's something to do with snoring/breathing problem, but i like to think of it as a nose job.
